Don't Let Go :Toy Story 3: by JereduLevenin Don't Let Go :Toy Story 3: by JereduLevenin
[link] is the WIP of this you may recognize. Finally done with it. All details other than Woody were intentionally left sketchy, since he's the focus of the piece.

After [link] , I had to make another one. Monochrome this time, and not using an angle we actually saw in the movie. Made it more painterly than the last one, so it doesn't just look like a screenshot.

I realized somewhere along the line that, in the incinerator scene, had they not been saved, Woody would've been the first to die, as he was the furthest down. Just thinking about what COULD have been puts a lump firmly in my throat. Thank goodness Pixar wasn't THAT evil.

Having to rewatch it for the sake of reference images made me realize that I will never be able to get through this scene without getting a lump in my throat at the very least!

Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and crew. It's the (soon to be) infamous incinerator scene. The inferno looks like the effing GATES OF HELL.

Everything pictured above (characters and Toy Story) all belong to the amazing folks at Pixar and Disney, people. Not me. Duh.

Point 1: Holy mother of BALLS this is amazing!  You've got some serious skill.

Point 2: When I first saw this part, I just sat there at a loss.  I knew, with the rational and genre-savvy parts of my brain, that they weren't going to die here.  They couldn't.  It was literally all the main characters, and even George R.R. Martin kills his main characters off only one at a time, and Pixar is decidedly not George R.R. Martin.  But I legitimately 100% could not think of any way they could possibly get out of it.  And I just sat there, no theories, no snarking, not even yelling at the screen (as is my wont).

Point 3: This brilliant piece of art has taken me back to that moment.

Point 4: I am now not okay again.

I remember the day I saw this in the cinema, 6 years ago. I didn't cry, I was shocked more than anything! I kept muttering"Oh my God!" over and over again thinking to myself "surely Pixar aren't gonna do this!"

It's funny to say but watching it again over time I love the animation in this scene. Strange thing to say I know but the expressions, the colours, it's just incredible and you wonder who sat down for hours animating this. Did they have mirrors proped up next to them so they could get the expressions exactly right? Dang Carren stop it it's a great scene stop taking away the magic!

I can't take away the magic but I love thinking of the technical aspects behind this scene!

I remember encountering this scene for the first time. I couldn't cry or say I was terrified, but I was just at a complete loss for words, and I started shedding tears, ready to cry. I gave a soft "no" right before the claw came down and rescued them, and while the audience roared and cheered, I just chuckled the same way Woody did at the whole thing. Truly, the ultimate punchline.

The incinerator scene was the darkest scene ever made in any Toy Story and Pixar films.

Hello! I LOVE YOU ARTWORK! I was hoping that I could use it in my documentary. Its about whether or not technology has a supplemental or detrimental effect on animated films, specifically whether it cheapens or improves animation quality, story, and overall effect on viewers. Your picture illustrates, no, conveys the "lump in the throat" mood and how powerful animation can be on the viewer.
It would make a great addition and I will be sure to credit you in, well, the credits.
The documentary would be shown at my school (as the assignment that it is) and uploaded to YouTube where my family and friends can view it, such as those that live far away from me.
Other than that, this is a really, really great work of art.

@ kabya19

Im certain that they do not feel pain because both woody and buzz have lost their arms now and buzz didn't even care, he was just bummed about his world crashing down around him, and woody didn't act like it hurt that his arm was off he was just scared that it was gone.

However yes! This scene sends your mind and soul thru the ringer still make no mistake about that!

This is fantastic and i must agree with the lump in the throat feeling, however i would more describe it as....my soul is wailing and my heart is dying??? I never thought in million years these movies would take it to the limit like that and now i cry my eyes out everytime. This piece is wonderful, but if you had done the part where jessie is like, "buzz! what do we do?!" and the effin look on his face man.... i would probably cry over some fanart cuz this is gorgeous and this is such an emotional scene. And this exact moment also when woody goes crawling back up the garbage and he looks at them all and he realizes whats happening, and buzz reaches out to him...... I CAN SAY NO MORE!!!!!!!
