Pyrotechnic Polearms concept

See, people have this notion that, if you take one "cool" thing and combine it with another "cool" thing, the end result is infinitely *cooler* than the sum of its parts.

Take vampires, pirates, zombies, and ninjas. We've got things now like Vampirates, zombie ninjas, and robot monkeys.

Or, in the case of Square Enix, GUNBLADES. Gunblades DID exist, but they looked NOTHING like their Final Fantasy incarnations which (realistically) have NO accuracy. They have no BARREL.


Anywho. You get my point. It's all about rule of cool. If it looks/sounds badass enough, nobody cares whether or not it would actually WORK in real life. So people [re: fanboys/fangirls] think gunblades (and keyblades) are the coolest thing ever.


So, I was thinking:

"I haven't really seen this anywhere, but... FLAMETHROWERS are cool. POLEARMS are cool. How about... pyrotechnic polearms?"

I mean, it's common in various videogames to spend a lot of either time, energy, effort, and/or money to obtain an ENCHANTED weapon that burns you while it cuts you. Why not just integrate a FLAMETHROWER into the design for the SAME effect, but without the magic mumbo-jumbo that limits it to only the fantasy genre?

So yeah...

Besides, it looks effing fantastic. I *want* one.

Also, the look on that guy's face is just great.

Keep in mind (in case you didn't see the white text on the picture) that this is an EXTREMELY exaggerated/dynamic perspective that creates MAJOR distortion in the size department. Look to the bottom left area of the picture for a scale sketch that gives an accurate size comparison.
