I love the background, and how the spidervines really enclose the space while still showing the shapes of the underlying trees. I love the smug little fillip to Youko's tail, and the powerful cut of his muscles. I love how Harry looks taken aback, and like his arms are pinned out to his sides, despite the fact that you can't see anything but the back of his head and a bit of his collar. I still love the detail of both wands.
And I love that I need to go stare at those eyes and that smirk some more. ^o^
You might want to put an outline around the lettering, but that's the only possible problem I see.

My favorite sport: Midget tossing with Peter the Great.
Should be more readable now!
I also made the full size 1024X768 (which isn't the FULL size, even) for people who want to download it, but I'm keeping the full resolution pic to myself in case of art-thieves, since it's happened before...
Glad you like how it turned out! Going for a less stylized but still "anime" look from here on out with the illustrations, since it doesn't look right to put anime characters and realistic characters in their respective styles onscreen together, but if I make the YYH characters look closer to realistic anime (think Serei no Moribito, or Samurai X), then they should look fine next to the more "realistic" HP characters.
NOTE Youko's realistically proportioned facial features and more-or-less flat-laying hair!
I think I'll be doing "Yultide Promise" next.
Ummm... could you possibly describe the actual shape of Kurama's wand? The descriptions include "short," "angular," and IIRC, "curved," but that's pretty vague. Curved in a slight arc, or a double curve, like (~). I'm assuming the curves are very slight, but still noticeably different from a Western wand? The rest of the stuff, like color and grain and whatnot I can research based on the info on the wand-making process you put in the chapter, but you're vague on the actual shape, which is the most important thing to know for illustrations. Re: Kurama's wand. I had to leave the description vague on purpose, because I wanted it to look Asian instead of European and I had no idea how to articulate the difference. I've got a better idea now, but this is still my first attempt to describe it-- before now it's been mostly associated images and a smirky Kurama/Youko Kurama holding something indistinct of about the right length and thickness.
Associated images: Japanese chopsticks, tori'i gates, katana.
Length: 0-2 cm longer than from Kurama's wrist to his middle fingertip, laid flat. (Much shorter and it's hard to hold, much longer and it's hard to hide up his sleeve.)
Hilt: Elliptical in cross-section. Not notably wider than the shaft (Western hilts are); textured for easier grip and knowing where to grab it when you're not looking, i.e. in a fight.
Shaft: Elliptical or vaguely triangular in cross-section. (Western is round.) Slight arc like a katana. Not as slim as a pencil or as thick as a child's marker, perhaps about as thick as his finger. Rounded at the tip.
